"Having made the decision to accompany the original text of the First Charter of the Monastery of Decani with its transcription and translations into modern Serbian and English languages, professor Grkovic and the publisher made it readable not only for researchers but also for the general public having basic information about the past of the Serbian people, willing to advance in knowledge. In that respect, of particular significance is the introductory part presenting the history of the charter, its description and content, as well as its versions, which gives a systematic and clear insight into the matters regulated by this document. Finally, high aesthetic quality of this edition of such an important written monument lies in its design. Nowadays, when publishing of historic sources has become an aim difficult to attain, the release of such a book should be warmly welcomed, and those who made it possible deserve acknowledgement.
